Berkshire Maestros

The-Berkshire-Youth-Orchestra-Berkshire-MaestrosMusic is so important to us at sing healthy choirs, and we spend lots of time encouraging and helping our members to get the most from the music they perform. We have close links with Berkshire Maestros, and it was with their orchestra – The Berkshire Youth Symphony Orchestra, that we performed The Armed Man concert in November 2014.

The Berkshire Maestros believe that teaching music changes lives and of course we can only agree with that, for we see how music changes and enhances our own choir members. They have over 160 tutors and work with children and young adults up to age 21.

They identify talented young musicians and create programmes to bring out their full potential. At our 2014 concert we had the Maestros Percussion Ensemble who gave a demonstration of their abilities that was simply breath-taking, and they are seen as one of the best percussion ensembles in the country.

We work to raise money for the charitable trust, but as important, we want to raise awareness of the work they do – for as our founding musical director called them “a hidden gem of musical talent” that is being encouraged and nurtured.
