Race for Life – Maria Thompson

Maria Thompson - Race for Life

maxresdefaultMany of you may not know that it Race for Life season. Race for Life is an amazing event that helps to support those who have been affected by Cancer. You can either do the 5kn run/walk/jog or you can do the 10km run/walk/jog. This year I have chosen to sign up for the 10km run. I chose 10km as it will be a challenge for me. The event that I am doing will take place on Sunday 17th July at Prospect Park in Reading.

The main reason behind me taking part in Race for Life this year is that I want to help support those who have been affected by cancer in one way or another. Many of you may not know this but my mum went through treatment of Stage 3 breast cancer last year. I can proudly say that all treatment was successful and she is doing really well after the difficult year that she had. It came as a bit of a shock but she had an a really great support system to help her get through it all.

Another reason to why I am taking part this year is that I want to be able to show my mum what an incredible inspiration she is. The courage and the bravery that she showed last year was truly amazing.

It would be greatly appreciated if any of you could sponsor me in challenge of getting through 10km (a distance that I have never ran before).

At Bracknell there is a sponsorship form that you can sign or there is the option of going onto my Just Giving page (https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/mariathompson6) and donating to the great cause that way.
